Steamboat Hot Springs Pool overheats with Fun

Things were really smokin' at the Steamboat Hot Springs pool for the
public log rolling demo on February 11. Take a look at the photos
below. The air temp. was 2° but the water temp. was 102°.
Thankfully, beginners spend more time in the water than out of
it. The reaction was extraordinary; everyone had a great
time and there were some excellent first time rollers. We're hoping that classes will
begin sometime in the spring.
Thanks to Rachel Rangle, the enthusiastic aquatics director at the SS
Health and Rec Center, for approving the demo and for lifeguarding for
two hours in 2° weather. Don't feel too bad for her, she had her puffy
"lifeguard" down jacket to keep her warm!
World champions, Katie and Lizzie Hoeschler, put on a great demo but sometimes the "log disappeared into the fog"...
Below iis another crazy activity that kids in Steamboat do: ride behind
horses on skis at full gallop. This little guy, Parker Temple, is one
of Steamboat's future champion log rollers!
